Congress Report

Is it currently possible to imagine the future of Paediatric Palliative Care in light of the wealth of knowhow accumulated in the past?

The 6th Maruzza International Congress on Paediatric Palliative Care aims to address this theme, to strive to foresee the possible developments and future perspectives of PPC at a global level.

To be able to project for the future it is necessary to appreciate the experiences, errors, studies, research, practices and skills developed over the years; acknowledging the importance of the road already travelled helps us to engage with the challenges faced every day by healthcare professionals in guaranteeing the best quality of life possible for children with incurable illnesses and their families.

The Congress aims to act as a vehicle for reflection, in-depth analysis and professional exchange to reinforce a concept for those working in the sector that encompasses the past, the present and the future by proposing evidence-based solutions, imagining innovative care models and contributing to the implementation of increasingly sophisticated apparatus and technologies capable of responding to the increasingly complex needs.

To strengthen the vision of tomorrow’s horizons, a half-day of the scientific program has been entrusted to a group of Young Professionals (under 40yrs) working in paediatric palliative care in diverse realities as a way of giving a voice to those who, tomorrow, will shape the future.

Furthermore, during the Opening Ceremony, the Awards for Excellence in Paediatric Palliative Care will be awarded for the best abstracts submitted by presenting authors under the age of 35 years by Vlček Family Foundation.
